THIS SOFTWARE AND ACCOMPANYING MATERIALS ARE DISTRIBUTED "AS IS" WITHOUT
WARRANTY, EXPRESSED, IMPLIED OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO ANY
IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE.
IN NO EVENT SHALL ANYONE INVOLVED WITH THE CREATION AND PRODUCTION OF THIS
PRODUCT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, ARISING
OUT OF ANY USE THEREOF OR BREACH OF ANY WARRANTY. ONCE REGISTERED, ANY
DISTRIBUTION OF THE REGISTERED KEY WILL INVALIDATE YOUR KEY IN ALL FUTURE
VERSIONS OF THIS PROGRAM AND NO PRODUCT SUPPORT WILL BE GIVEN.
DISTRIBUTION:
=============
You may make this file available for downloading from your BBS or you may
upload it to any BBS of your choice, provided that you do not make any
changes to the contents of the archive (ZIP file).
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
====================
WCDoors is designed to track the usage of up to 80 door programs, and
generate both ANSI and ASCII bulletins, which contain the names of the
door programs to be tracked, and the number each has been used. The
sysop selects which doors he/she wants to track.
NOTE:
=====
The WCDOORS.KEY file that is distributed with this program does NOT expire!
This is simply here so the door has a KEY to read. When you register,
you will receive a new WCDOORS.KEY file, which will remove the UNREGISTERED
notice from the bulletins, and display the name of your BBS, etc.
FEATURES:
=========
--- Easy to set up.
--- BETA tested on a Wildcat! BBS.
--- Support BBS available.
--- Generates ANSI and ASCII bulletins.
--- One time registration fee good for any future version.
INSTALLATION:
=============
1. Place four files, (WCDOORS1.CFG, WCDOORS2.CFG, WCDOORS.EXE, and
WCDOORS.KEY), in your main Wildcat directory. (Example: C:\WC30)
2. Using a text editor, edit the WCDOORS1.CFG file to include the required
information as shown in the example below.
The John Doe BBS <-- The name of your BBS.
John Doe <-- Sysop's FIRST and LAST name.
C:\WC30\BULL\BULL10.BBS <-- Path to your ASCII bulletin.
C:\WC30\BULL\BULL10.SCR <-- Path to your ANSI bulletin.
The path to your ASCII and ANSI bulletins MUST include
the filename of both your ASCII and ANSI bulletins.
3. Using a text editor, edit the WCDOORS2.CFG file to include the required
information as shown in the example below. Be sure to READ the notes
following the WCDOORS2.CFG example.
Online! Magazine <-- Name of Door Program #1.
International Online <-- Name of Door Program #2.
Prize Vault <-- Name of Door Program #3.
Lotto <-- Name of Door Program #4.
Casino Poker <-- Name of Door Program #5.
ProWords <-- Name of Door Program #6.
Pyramid <-- Name of Door Program #7.
Scramble <-- Name of Door Program #8.
Money Market <-- Name of Door Program #9.
Dollarmania! <-- Name of Door Program #10.
Lasso! <-- Name of Door Program #11.
Studs! <-- Name of Door Program #12.
Note: This WCDOORS2.CFG file is setup to track only 12 door programs.
However, WCDoors can track up to 80 door programs.
Additional notes on the completion of the WCDOORS2.CFG file:
A) The door program names entered on each line of the WCDOORS2.CFG file
should match the names of the door programs as you have them
entered for display in your Doors Menu screen.
B) Your WCDOORS2.CFG file should include the names of only those door
programs you want to track. You might have 30 door programs on
your BBS, but you might want to track the usage of only 25 of them.
If this were the case, you would only enter the names of the 25
door programs you want to be tracked by WCDoors. For door programs
you do NOT want to track, simply <ENTER> a blank space for that
particular Door #, or enter something such as <<NOT IN USE>>. See
the example below.
Online! Magazine <-- Name of Door Program #1 to track.
International Online <-- Name of Door Program #2 to track.
Prize Vault <-- Name of Door Program #3 to track.
Lotto <-- Name of Door Program #4 to track.
<-- Will NOT track Door Program #5.
ProWords <-- Name of Door Program #6 to track.
Pyramid <-- Name of Door Program #7 to track.
C) As far as WCDoors and the WCDOORS2.CFG file is concerned, door
program names should NOT exceed 24 characters in length. This
includes spaces, etc. as well.
4. WCDoors is executed with the following command.....
WCDOORS C:\WC30\\ACTIVITY.001
Notes: The complete path and filename to the ACTIVITY.001 file MUST be
included in the command, unless it is being run from the WC30
directory.
A suggested method of running WCDoors would be to run it as part
of your nightly maintenance routines, etc.
MAINTENANCE:
============
After the initial setup, no known maintenance is required. Of course,
as you add and remove door programs you want to be tracked by WCDoors,
you will need to edit your WCDOORS2.CFG file accordingly.
Also, WCDoors analyzes the ACTIVITY.001 file, and should continue to do
so, until you delete, rename, etc. the ACTIVITY.001 file. You could do
this on the first of each month, and WCDoors will track door usage from
month to month.
FUTURE VERSIONS:
================
Let me know what you would like to see!
PROBLEMS:
========
Hopefully, there will not be any problems. But if you encounter any,
please let me know.
